The 1998 Bearcat team was 8-4 on the year and 4-1 in district. They entered the playoffs as first in the district in 2A-Division II and succeeded in defeating Maypearl, the first Bi-district win for the Bearcat since 1990. Although many thought the season ended too soon, the season was still a success, as the Bearcats cleaned up the All-District honors and Cord Dyson was named All-State offensive lineman.
