The Texas Rural Development Council

The Texas Rural Development Council is a concerted effort to coordinate the work of the many federal government agencies with the work of state and local economic development leaders and the private sector. TRDC and its members are dedicated to:

increasing coordination and cooperation between federal, state, local, private, and non-profit interests, thus resulting in improved service delivery;
creating an environment that encourages and rewards risk taking innovation in both the public and private sectors and;
encouraging and supporting rural leadership capable of producing resourceful development strategies.

Members directly contribute to the accomplishment of these Council objectives through involvement in the goal and action-oriented plan-of-work committees. In addition, the TRDC holds quarterly meetings designed to educate and update members on the latest rural development opportunities and techniques.

The Texas Rural Development Council is comprised of:

heads of federal agencies in Texas;
representatives from state, regional, and local governments and;
representatives from private sector organizations who have responsibility for and/or impact on rural development in Texas.

The Council seeks to assist rural Texas communities with their needs and development efforts by matching the technical and financial resources of federal, state, and local governments and the private sector with local development efforts.
