In a day and age when communication through e-mails is more important than ever, Comanche County Telephone has taken great steps to bring you a product - at no additional charge - which allows you the opportunity to receive valid e-mails important only to you. Bye, bye to much of your spam!

If you haven’t already, in the near future you will receive an e-mail from “Barracuda Spam Firewall” with the subject line “User Quarantine Account Information.” This is a legitimate e-mail which contains important information about spam quarantine and preferences that can be personalized by you. The e-mail does contain a username and password specific to your e-mail account.

If you have not yet received the e-mail, you may click here, enter your e-mail address as the username and click “Create New Password.”

Once the Barracuda e-mail is received, please click on the link which takes you to Barracuda’s Spam Firewall website.

At this point, settings to quarantine spam can be set according to your individual preferences. However, even with low spam settings, it is possible that some spam will still be received. Please click here to access the user’s manual for the Barracuda product.

Security Alert: Phishing

A growing number of malicious e-mails and web sites have been created for the express purpose of stealing your personal or financial information, usernames, and passwords. These e-mails and web sites are specifically designed to appear as if they come from or belong to a legitimate organization, such as Totelcom Communications or your bank. This practice is known as phishing or spoofing. Totelcom will never solicit any such information.

Although stopping these crimes altogether may not be possible, as Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” The Anti-Phishing Working Group dedicates itself to wiping out Internet scams and fraud.
